Claybook: Automate Onsite Planning

+ 2 Job Openings at Clay, LetterOps Webinar, GTM Engineer Podcast

Hey, GTM Engineers!

Have you heard of LetterOps?

I’m guessing no because I recently made it up.

Think of LetterOps as GTM Engineering, but for newsletters.

Claymation is as much a creative outlet for me as it is a playground for experimentation. How can GTM Engineering be applied to growing a newsletter?

This Thursday - I’ll be doing a live webinar session with La Growth Machine. We’ll be going over newsletter automations & workflows to drive growth. Come join us 👉️ You can register here.

This week I’m organizing onsite visits in San Francisco (for one of our co-founders) & Boston (I’ll be in town presenting trends in GTM Engineering for a public tech company with our Head of GTM Engineering).

What execs, champions, and decision makers across our accounts should we meet with, in each city? Usually this is a major pain in the @$$, but now I have a Clay workflow that automates the process.

I’ll show you how in this newsletter 👇️

🎯 Objective:

Quickly find all of the right people in town (when your exec team is in the area) rapidly across all of your accounts to setup meetings

⚙️ Workflow

This is fairly simple.

  1. Create a Company Table

  2. Find & summarize recent news

  3. Find People based on persona

  4. Find Work Emails and Mobile Phones

Step 1: Create Company Table

Tip 👉️ go to “clay.new” to create a new table.

Step 2: Find Latest Info for Conversations

Keeping it simple here and adding in:

  • Domain (we need it to find the Company Profile)

  • Company Profile (we need it for the People Search)

  • Recent News

  • Claygent (to summarize the most recent news)

Tip 👉️ always nice to mention something positive about the company when you start the meeting. 1) Shows you did some HW 2) Something to talk about to warm things up 3) People love talking about themselves/their company.

Though the prompt is very simple, we got a nice output:

Step 3: Find People

Add in your personas. Choose your locations. For me, our exec team is frequently in: NYC, SF, and sometimes Boston.

Only choose the following options. We’ll find the Work Email and Mobile Number, but with a trick to save credits.

Step 4: Add a Trigger

We’ll setup some basic run column logic so that we can decide and trigger which emails we want to find.

The trigger will be a simple check box column like so:

Tip 👉️ you can pin columns so they don’t disappear when you scroll.

Step 5: Find Work Email + Run Logic

The workflow to find a work email will only fire if you have the check box column selected.

That is the core workflow. However, you can get creative with extending this workflow in a few ways:

Step 6: Extensions

  1. Create a personalized email → send via sequencer

  2. Pull info from Salesforce, Gong, etc. to create executive meeting briefs

  3. Create a Google Map of key contacts

  4. Find highly rated restaurants in close proximity to office locations
