Hey, Claymaker!
I moved over to beehiiv from Substack. People have been asking why, so here’s my take before we dive into Clay:
Substack is a closed ecosystem and beehiiv is open
beehiiv has an API and I’v been itching to build some beehiiv + Clay automations
There’s easier ways to monetize (ad network, paid boosts, etc.)
I can personalize the newsletter and create segmentations
In other news - I’m absolutely KICKING MYSELF this week.
Let me tell you why.
I’m responding to an RFP and last minute realized one of our partners has a relationship with this customer. A good one. Who we can partner with. And, they’re willing to help….
How did I not figure this out earlier in the sales process?
Aircover & collaborating with partners on deals can go a long way in winning the deal.
These types of misses happen all the time…
It’s just too hard to do all of the searching.
But, there’s always some valuable connection to be leveraged.
We can’t let this can’t happen again and luckily we can use Clay to solve part of the problem.
Let’s get to work.
The Challenge: Missing Valuable Connections
Sales teams miss opportunities to connect the dots frequently. There’s too much data to sift through and too many websites to research.
How do we minimize the loss of these valuable connections by creating a system that optimizes for finding them?
Objective: Automate Logo Discovery on Websites
Competitors, partners, and software providers who provide complementary tech all list their marquee customer logos on their website.
Some companies have hundreds of partners.
Imagine quickly identifying which partner you should reach out to for partnering on the opportunity or gaining valuable insights into the account.
This will work for the following:
Analyzing partner websites for customer logos + case studies
And for integration partners
And for investors
Plus - potentially finding co-workers of who you’re targeting who have worked at one of your other customers. (Haven’t fully tested this yet, so more to come.)
The 3 Step Claybook:
Step 1: Create a Text Column + Fill w. Domains

Next step… the prompt
Step 2: Create a Claygent Column + Input Prompt
Note you’ll want to have already found the Company Name and Domain in other columns. What I did was take the LinkedIn of my Champion, pushed the link into the Clay table via a Zapier chrome extension, and then Enriched the profile to get the Company name and then domain.

TIP: Define your column outputs. You can add a few of these (best practice is no more than 5) and this will help you get structured outputs. The output columns will be easier to use for other purposes.
Btw, here are some additional posts on AI Prompting & Claygent:
Step 3: Run The Claygent Column, Get Your Outputs.
In this case, I found that our partner Go Nimbly works with my target account where I have an opportunity.
Next step - reach out to the partner team to get connected.
